PARKERSBURG, WV –  11/1/07 –Greenpak, Inc., in conjunction with the Washington, DC-based Armed Forces Foundation provided transportation to four wounded service members in June of this year. The purpose of this event was an exotic wild game hunt at the private 4,000 acre Eagle Ranch in the hill country of Texas.

Army Sergeant and sharp shooter Rob Kislow, who lost his right leg fighting with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan, when asked what he thought of the hunt said, “It was awesome!”  Hunting with Rob were Marine 1st Lt Andrew Kinard, a double leg amputee, Lance Corporal Corey Smith a single leg amputee, and Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class, Chad Kueser another double leg amputee. Lt.Col. Lew Deal, USMC (ret) who directs the Outdoor Programs for the Armed Forces Foundation, and Maj. Gen. Randy West, USMC (ret) an AFF Board Member, stated outdoor sports opportunities for service members, especially the wounded and their families is more than just fun, it is actually recreational therapy. Colonel Deal and General West have organized many similar events across the country.

Jeff Shaver, Greenpak’s Vice President and General Sales Manager, tagged along with the wounded warriors on the hunt, and stated, “these courageous young men may have a physical setback, but they are not letting it slow them down, and we a re going to  continue to do everything we can to support  them.”  Greenpak is currently sponsoring its second event Armed Forces Foundation event. This will be a deer hunt on private land in West Virginia.

E. R. “Ted” Gateman, a WWII combat aviator, provided a corporate jet so the wounded warriors could attend the Texas hunt. He stated: “The men and women of the US military epitomize the highest values of America, and all Americans should support their valiant efforts. It is our duty to recognize the sacrifices so many of them have made for democracy and the preservation of our way of life. We at Greenpak consider it an honor to be part of the Armed Forces Foundation’s programs. Working together we will not let our troops down!”
