PolyOne Joins with Greenpak, Inc. to Offer Recycling/Returns Program for PolyOne Customer Packaging

Environmental program reduces packaging
removal and environmental compliance costs

CLEVELAND (May 17, 2006) – PolyOne Corporation (NYSE: POL) announced today that it has joined with Greenpak, Inc. to offer an industrial package recycling and returns program for its customers. Through this free program, PolyOne customers can divert industrial packaging materials such as pallets, metal and fiber drums, and boxes from landfills to be re-used or recycled. This environmentally friendly solution reduces customers’ costs, including landfill fees and the burdens of disposal.

“PolyOne is proud to be the only plastics compounding company to team up with Greenpak, the leader in industrial package reduce, return, and reuse solutions,” said Dennis Cocco, vice president of investor relations and communications with PolyOne. “Greenpak’s re-use system provides value to our customers and aligns with our goals of being environmentally responsible. In the first year of piloting the program, we have diverted more than 7 million pounds of packaging from landfills.”

PolyOne customers interested in participating in the program work with Greenpak to determine what packaging can be recycled and the potential cost savings. Greenpak then develops a pick-up schedule for the packaging materials based on the customer’s needs. After evaluating the condition of the material, Greenpak repairs it as needed and distributes it to other outlets to be re-used or recycled.
