Perry D. Smith Joins GWP Industries, LLC

PARKERSBURG, West Virginia — March 27, 2006 — The Board of Directors of GWP Industries, LLC today announced that Perry D. Smith has joined the company as Vice-Chairman and President and CEO of Greenpak, Inc.

The Board went on to state, ”We are pleased that Perry Smith is joining our team to lead our company to the next level of growth as a leading global provider of packaging solutions and reducible, returnable, and re-useable supply chain services.”

“Perry Smith joins GWP Industries from W.L. Gore & Associates, makers of the Gore-tex® brand, where he was responsible for the Asia Pacific Industrial Products. He brings leadership and expertise in industrial markets, packaging and global business. We are looking forward to building our packaging enterprise, Greenpak, as well as our distribution and supply chain business for our growing customer base world wide. Perry’s business development background, his global experience and operating skills will help strengthen our team.”

Smith is married 33 years to the former Margaret Ann McCoy of Zanesville, Ohio. Her father was President of The Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. The Smiths have 3 children, an attorney with the Chicago firm of McDermott Will & Emery, a corporate banker with Citigroup, and a son now graduating from SMU in Texas. They are moving to Parkersburg from Shanghai, China after also living many years in Singapore. The Smiths have previously lived in the U.S., and they will keep a home in Parkersburg and Wilmington, NC.

Raised in Japan and Taiwan, Perry Smith is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The George Washington University and has a Masters in International Management from The American Graduate School of International Management. Prior to working with W.L. Gore & Associates, Smith was a Corporate Officer and Managing Director for Sonoco Products Company- a leading global paper and packaging company.


GWP Industries, LLC was established in Parkersburg in 1950 with only 3 employees. The company today includes Greenpak, Inc. a global leader in industrial package solutions and provides innovative recovery, re-use, and return logistics systems.
